A Collision of Tradition and Modernity on the Roof of the World
Qinghai Golog, with an average altitude exceeding 4,000 meters, is the source of China's Mother River, the Sanjiang (Three Rivers). Here, yaks are not only the lifeline of Tibetan herders but also a symbol of the high-altitude culture. Since ancient times, Tibetan herders have had the tradition of collecting yak wool to make tents and Tibetan robes, earning the yak the title of "the boat of the plateau."
On June 28, 2024, at the foot of the majestic Amnye Machen mountain range and by the serene Donggi Cona Lake, a grand fashion event named "Source of the Yellow River · Golog Yak Wool Fashion Show" took center stage. Over 40 Tibetan models showcased more than a hundred exquisite garments woven primarily from yak wool, narrating the captivating story of how yak transforms into treasure.
This significant fashion show originated from an encounter between Sandriver and Qinghai Golog. Its aim was to move beyond just "products" to establish a thriving "industry," connecting participants across the entire value chain – from raw material collection to the consumer market – to promote the improvement and development of the entire Qinghai yak wool industry.
